Bible Introduction

The whole Bible is classified from time to time: before the birth of Christ, it is called "Old Testament". It is recorded that the story of the birth of Christ is called "New testament".

The word "Testament" refers to the covenant of God through the prophets recorded in the "Old Testament", especially Moses (Moses) at Mount Sinai, and made Israel's covenant; in the "New Testament" recorded by the new covenant God Jesus Christ with his blood and the world his covenant.

Regardless of the Old Testament, the New Testament, according to content analysis, roughly divided into three categories:

1. history book: description of the nation of Israel or Jesus Christ and the church history, such as the Old Testament pentateuch. Kings and kings, the gospel of the New Testament, the record of the apostles.

2. instruction book: discuss the nation of Israel or the Christian religion and ethics, such as training sermon in the Old Testament, the book of wisdom, all the letters in the new testament.

3. the book of the prophet: record the preaching and forecast the future of the prophets, such as Isaiah in the Old Testament, the book of Jeremiah, implied in the New Testament.

The Old Testament of the Bible, the first book written in about more than and 900 BC; the last book of the New Testament "implied" was written around ninety a.d.. The whole Bible was written one thousand and five hundred years before the birth of Christ to the first one hundred years after his birth.

The Old Testament volume is mostly written in Hebrew, a small part is written in aramaic. All the New Testament book, is written in greek.

The original author wrote the Bible, not divided chapter, current chapters are compiled by later generations, for the convenience of reading and reference.

There are seventy-three books in the Bible: the Old Testament, the forty-six volume, the New Testament, the twenty-seven volume.

The Catholic Bible differs from the Christian Bible in that the number of volumes in the Bible of the two is different. In the New Testament, there are twenty-seven volumes of the two; in the Old Testament, the Catholic Church has a volume of forty-six, only the Christian volume of thirty-nine. Therefore, the Catholic Bible has seventy-three books of the New Testament and the Old Testament, the Christian Bible has only about sixty-six volumes.
